About Leslie
Wife Goes On was inspired by Leslie's own life, as reflected in her essay, "Welcome to the Club" in the anthology,The Honeymoon's Over. Her infamous essay, "I Hate Everybody" from the controversial Mommy Wars, was lauded on "The Today Show." She also contributed to Arianna Huffington 's bestseller, On Becoming Fearless, with "Parenting Paranoia." Aside from personal essays, Leslie also contributes to writing anthologies, including the Tarcher Series, Just Write. "Heartless," one of Leslie's original screenplays, is a romantic thriller that was produced as an independent film by Santa Monica Pictures. The film financed five other projects for the company through appearances on USA TV and screening in European theaters for the past six years. Leslie wrote the teleplay, "Club Divorce," for Lifetime TV. Welcome to Club Mom, Leslie's first nonfiction book, was followed by The Happy Helpful Grandma Guide, now excerpted on Fisher Price.com, and the lifestyle design book, Wendy Bellissimo: Nesting, featured on "Oprah." With a B.A. from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Leslie is a popular panelist at literary and film conferences around the country. She is a member of PEN, The Authors Guild, WGA, Women In Film, and The Women's Leadership Council of L.A. She teaches in the word-renowned Writer's Program at UCLA Extension. A Buckeye at heart, Lehr now lives in Southern California. After after finding happiness in the aftermath of a harrowing divorce, she swore she'd never marry again. And yet...she credits that very sense of independence for her daring second act - as a newlywed. Because if if it isn't fun, she isn't having any. Here's to living happier ever after! |
